Thatcham Pharmacy, in the Burdwood Centre on Station Road, has been singled out for the care it gives its customers.

Healthwatch West Berkshire, the independent body that gathers people's views of local health and care services, has written to the pharmacy to pass on the thanks of patients.

Seven people contacted Healthwatch with compliments about the pharmacy, praising the kindness and professionalism of its staff.

One patient told Healthwatch she had been worried about her medication. Staff noticed, and asked the pharmacist to sit down with her and talk it through.

In its letter, Healthwatch told the team that the people they serve had recognised their kindness, compassion and professionalism.

Thatcham Pharmacy is owned and managed by pharmacist Guillermo Marin Saborido, who said: “I have been really busy since this story came out. It’s amazing.”

Fiona Worby of Healthwatch West Berkshire said the organisation shares positive feedback as well as concerns, so that good care is recognised and others can learn from it.

Healthwatch collects feedback about GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals and care services across the district. Anyone can share an experience, good or bad, through the Have your say page on the Healthwatch West Berkshire website.
